Google is the gift that keeps on giving for small businesses, that’s if you take full advantage of the slick new features it provides. The latest awesome addition is Google Posts, which is going to add a heap of extra value to your Google My Business (GMB) page.
Launched on July 22nd – very recently – the feature directly links to your GMB page, allowing you to create customised posts such as:
- Sales or promotions
- Top performing or new products
- Upcoming events
Google Posts actually isn’t a brand new feature, it was once known as ‘candidate cards’ used by politicians to post content that would relate to particular political searches. It was then made available to a select group of small businesses and has now been launched for all GMB listings.
Why should you utilise it?
With 82% of people turning to search engines for information about local products and services, your GMB listing is crucial to getting you noticed amongst your competitors. Google Posts is a huge opportunity to showcase your unique product, big sale or latest offer.
The reality is, people want to know more about a business before purchasing a product or obtaining services. Here’s another great chance to tell them what makes you unique and why you deserve their business. In short, it’s gamechanging!
How does it work?
You can create Google Posts in your own GMB account, where you’ll find the new addition in the left-side menu. Once you find it, you’ll notice how easy it is to create your posts, by following these few simple steps:
- Add a feature image of your product or event
- Write 100-300 words to describe your post
- Include a link to the relevant webpage
- Add a call-to-action – such as buy, reserve, sign up or get offer
- Schedule your start/end dates and times
Once you’re ready to make your post live, you can first check out a preview of what it will look like, and then simply publish it.
